Rehoboth Beach Railroad History Lecture
May 11, 2023 @ 7:15 pm - 8:30 pm EDT
The next Rehoboth Beach History Lecture, covering Rehoboth’s Railroad, is set for 7:15 p.m., Thursday, May 11, in the Sussex Room at the Boardwalk Plaza Hotel.
Paul Lovett, creator of the miniature village diorama of 1910 Railroad Era Rehoboth, will moderate.
Only four permanent resident families were living in Rehoboth in 1884 when railroad tracks were laid directly up Rehoboth Avenue.
The railroad served Rehoboth for 85 years. Townsfolk watched with anticipation for the arrival of the train bringing mail, newspapers, movies and their extended family members. To know how the locomotive turned around, come to the lecture.
A donation of $25 is requested. Proceeds in excess of expenses will go to sustain the diorama project. To reserve a seat, email Lovett at paul@pdlovett.com.
