Annual Train Day Celebration

May 11 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm EDT

Please plan to join LJRBA to celebrate National Train Day at our outdoor exhibit site at Lewes Junction. The site includes our beautifully refurbished caboose, PRR 477123, on a length of professionally restored track bed. Directly across the trail from the caboose is a charming replica of a Lewes Passenger Station, recently completed through a collaboration of the Lewes Public Library, Art in Bloom, the City of Lewes, and Schell Brothers Builders.

This year’s Train Day event has 2 themes:

  1. The history and significance of Lewes Junction, and
  2. Our plans to restore our 1913 PRR steam engine #60 and make it part of the Lewes Junction display.

There will be other RR themed talks, as well as activities and reading for children at the adjacent Lewes Public Library.

We hope you will bring family and friends to our annual celebration of the history of railroads in the Lewes area, and learn how we are preserving that history for current and future generations.
